Pink Lotus
Mei Han, zheng, and Cynthia Hiebert, harpsichord

St. John the Evangelist Church | 23 Water Street North, Kitchener

Despite their origins on two different continents, the harpsichord and the zheng are plucked string instruments, joined by a common social history as ‘women’s instruments.’ This concert will feature Mei Han and Cynthia Hiebert performing an array of traditional and contemporary solo works, as well as a commissioned work for harpsichord and zheng by Vancouver’s Janet Danielson — possibly the first piece written for this colourful combination!

For more information on the artists, visit Mei Han and Cynthia Hiebert online. Listen to the traditional zheng piece Pink Lotus in Many Modes (excerpt) as played by Mei Han. Listen to Cynthia Hiebert perform L. Couperin's Prelude in A minor (excerpt).
