"I don't think that I've ever been so moved by a new composition as I was by the little match girl passion, which is unlike any music I know."

— Tim Page, The Washington Post

There is a lot of buzz around our Open Ears presentation of the Little Match Girl Passion which we're thrilled about. This will be the first Ontario production of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning vocal work. Our quartet of Katherine Hill, Patricia O'Callaghan, Lucas Marchand and Dallas Bergen will play at the Music Gallery in Toronto on the 20th of December and then comes to Kitchener-Waterloo on Saturday December 21st at 2:30 PM to Conrad Grebel College.

The critics in other cities have been quite vocal in their support of this landmark work, including the New Yorker, who called it "a masterpiece".

You can read the Waterloo Record talking about the performance in an excellent piece by Robert Reid.

The KW CBC's Andrea Bellemare has also given us a nice little tip of the hat.

And this particular production has received recommendations in the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, Musical Toronto and blogTO.

Don't miss this wonderful family-oriented show, which will also include a few carols, some Scandinavian fare and an appearance by the Swedish nyckelharpa.
