Administrative Assistant – Job Description
Three arts organizations with a base of classical new music have come together in a pilot project to share administrative services. We are looking for an individual who is prepared to work independently, has the ability to time manage and to meet the requirements of the organizations. The right candidate will also have strong communication, writing, computer and people skills.
The position is a one-year part-time position that will start in March 2015.
The following organizations are investigating possibilities for sharing resources. This may, or may not include human resources. This position is a pilot project to allow us to determine what is possible and appropriate.
The Open Ears Festival of Music & Sound uses unusual venues to present an eclectic range of music from new classical music to electroacoustic, musique actuelle, and sound installation. Innovative and collaborative, the festival works closely with other organizations to co-present activities or to include activities within the festival schedule. The next full festival is June 2016, there will be a two-day mini-festival in June of 2015.
NUMUS, a presenting organization founded in 1985 by composer Peter Hatch, NUMUS is one of Canada’s foremost new music organizations, renowned for its electrifying contemporary programming and high standards of artistry. NUMUS invites audiences to explore the bold sounds and ideas of a new generation of composers and performers while celebrating the innovators of the past. NUMUS presents a full season generally running October to May inclusive.
Inter-Arts Matrix (IAM) works with artists, scientists, technicians, and communities to research, develop, produce, and present new works that cross the boundaries between, and combine art forms, science, craft and technology. IAM is project driven.
The candidate will report to a group of senior managers consisting of one representative from each of the participating organizations. It is understood that it is the responsibility of this management group to set priorities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of managing an arts organization including administration, financial, human resources and event management.
