RADIO WONDERLAND + WEIRD CANADA
Radio Wonderland is DJ meets mashup meets sonic art with a sound that ranges from Negativland to Techno. Radio Wonderland samples local radio on his ghetto blaster and manipulates it using a series of purpose-built controllers, including a steering wheel and retrofitted old shoes.
Weird Canada, national leaders and progenitors of creative and independent artistic expression, will follow with a curated evening of live music, featuring Brian Ruryk and Man Made Hill.
Brian Ruryk: is back busting up the joint..full on Acusto/electro-G-tar shred, tape warp melt, tuna can jam,sample-fizz, and Brian's wonderful sense of humour, add 1/4 cup of punishing assault and let it all spill on the floor. This is a rare opportunity to see Ruryk treats his elements the way bratty kids treat their toys: by unrepentantly throwing them at walls and down stairwells...not to be missed !
Man Made Hill: Only Toronto could provoke such a paramount of reductive funk bursting with subterrestrial bass and xenomorphic rhythm, paving the way for incumbent beings of radiant grind. Since 2004 the one-man electro-funk machine that is Man Made Hill has been executing some of the spaciest grooves this side of Saturn. The roots of this music lay firmly in the sex-bop'78-'84: late disco, modern soul, and drum machine funk (Zapp, Midnight Star, Wicked Witch) but dusted with psilocybin by angles sent by Sun Ra.
