WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT 4
Nassim Soleimanpour was forbidden to leave his country for refusing military duty as a conscientious objector, so he wrote a play for someone else to read in his voice, not knowing if he would ever see it. It is entirely unique, and has been all over the world. Responses have varied from tears and raucous laughter, because every performance is remarkably different, and every performance must be read by someone who is reading the play for the first time. No rehearsals, no director, no set. The audience can choose to participate or ignore. The play begins when the actor walks out on stage, unseals an envelope and begins to read.
The fourth of four performances of this play will be read by Nora Young, host of CBC's Spark.
